White BJJ Rashguard: Rules, Choices, and Top 2026 Models

Why a white rashguard in BJJ?

The white BJJ rashguard has become a classic on the mats. Beyond style, it has a real purpose: it clearly identifies practitioners during sparring, it offers a clean visual contrast for filmed competitions, and it aligns with one of the regulatory colors imposed by the IBJJF and the CFJJB in no-gi. At Hustle Fightwear, we design each model to be both technically sound (compression, quick-drying, flat seams) and aesthetically pleasing.

White is also the most versatile color in combat sports apparel: it matches all grappling shorts, all MMA fight shorts, and even a white gi as an underlayer. It's a safe investment when you're starting your no-gi equipment.

The rules: who is the white rashguard for?

In CFJJB and IBJJF no-gi competition, the rashguard must reflect the competitor's belt color. The 100% white rashguard is officially allowed for white belts, as well as a neutral option in some recreational tournaments. For other belt colors, at least 10% of the belt color must be on the rashguard, otherwise it will be rejected at weigh-in.

If you are new to BJJ, the white rashguard is therefore the most logical choice: it is compliant from the first competition. To understand all the rules by rank, consult our article white belt rashguard rules in no-gi competition.

How to choose your white rashguard?

Three criteria make the difference in a quality white rashguard. First, the material: a polyester/elastane blend (typically 80/20 or 85/15) guarantees compression without losing elasticity. Then, the flat seams and reinforcements at the armpits and shoulders: these are the areas that rub the most in grappling. Finally, anti-odor technology and quick-drying, essential when you have several sessions a week.

Beware of low-end white rashguards: white fabric is more prone to stains and transparency. A good white BJJ rashguard should remain opaque even when wet and maintain its original white color after dozens of washes. To help you find your size, read our guide what size to choose for a rashguard.

Hustle Fightwear models to prioritize

In the Rashguard Hustle Fightwear collection, several white models stand out for their fabric quality and finishes. The Competitor V2 is our benchmark: premium compressive fabric, reinforced flatlock seams, sober design approved by CFJJB and IBJJF. This is the model our athletes wear in no-gi competition.

For daily training, we recommend our long-sleeved rashguards with a white dominance, which provide additional protection against chafing and skin irritation. Short sleeves or long sleeves, the right choice depends on your playing style: long sleeves or short: which to choose?

Care: keeping your white rashguard spotless

A white rashguard requires a little more attention than a dark model. Wash it inside out, at a maximum of 30°C, with a gentle detergent. Avoid fabric softener, which destroys technical fibers and clogs the fabric's pores. Never use bleach on the colored areas of the logo: it will yellow the fabric in the long run. To preserve its whiteness, separate your white rashguard from dark laundry when washing and air dry it, never tumble dry.

Pro tip: if your white rashguard starts to gray, soak it for 30 minutes in lukewarm water with a spoonful of baking soda before washing. This revives the whiteness without damaging the fiber. For the complete routine, see how to wash a rashguard.

The white rashguard, more than just clothing

Choosing a white BJJ rashguard from Hustle Fightwear means opting for a classic that complies with regulations, is versatile, and durable. Whether you're starting as a white belt or looking for a neutral option for your training, white remains the safest choice in the collection.
