Hustle Competitor V2: feedback after 3 months of intensive use

Launched a few months ago, the Competitor V2 set quickly became the benchmark for no-gi competition at Hustle Fightwear. After 90 days of intensive use by our ambassador athletes, by customers who reported their impressions to us, and by our own technical team, it's time for an honest assessment. No marketing talk: just the facts, what works, and the areas we continue to improve.

The context of the test: 3 months, 5 different profiles

For this feedback, we compiled insights from five very different profiles: a black belt competitor who trains six times a week, two blue belts who combine BJJ and no-gi, a no-gi grappling beginner, and an intermediate-level female practitioner. All wore the Competitor V2 during training, intense sparring, and some in official CFJJB and IBJJF competitions.

The objective was clear: to see how the set performs outside the ideal framework of a one-off test, in the reality of a full training season.

Comfort and fit: the verdict after 90 days

First unanimous point: comfort. None of our testers mentioned any discomfort, even after two-hour sessions. The long-sleeved rashguard of the Competitor V2 stays snug without compressing, and the shorts maintain their original fit after more than forty washes. The bottom of the shorts is short enough not to hinder guard passes, while still meeting the regulatory requirements described in our CFJJB no-gi regulation guide.

One comment, however, did come up: the female practitioner noted that the rashguard was a little large on the shoulders. This is useful information that we will incorporate into the next iteration of the size chart.

Durability and resistance: the real test

This is where the Competitor V2 surprises the most. After 3 months and more than 60 intensive sessions per tester, no tears were reported, neither on the rashguard seams nor on the shorts' edges. The Velcro fasteners remain 100% functional, with no visible wear. This is a direct result of the technical choices made upstream: reinforced flatlock stitching, high-density polyester-elastane fabric, and triple stitching on critical areas.

Performance in real competition

Three of our testers wore the set in official competition. All passed the CFJJB and IBJJF referee checks without issue. The black rashguard with Hustle stripes was validated without hesitation, and the shorts with flat seams drew no comments. On the mat, the comfort translates into complete freedom in transitions, particularly appreciated in reverse guard and fast leg passes.

Akhmed Akaimov, who wore the Competitor V2 during training camps and competition preparation, praised the fabric's thermal properties: it regulates sweat without becoming heavy or slippery. This is a crucial point when considering that no-gi fights often come down to grip fighting.

Areas for improvement (and what's next)

No product is perfect, and we want to state that. Three pieces of feedback came up several times: an additional color would be appreciated (beyond black and blue), a short-sleeved version for summer heat, and a specific women's cut with a closer fit to the torso. These comments are already fueling the product roadmap for 2026, and we will communicate on developments soon.

For now, the Competitor V2 set remains our primary recommendation for any no-gi practitioner looking for reliable, legal, and durable competition attire. After 3 months, the verdict is clear: it's an investment that pays off session after session.

Our final opinion

The Competitor V2 delivered on its promises on all fronts: comfort, durability, performance, regulatory compliance. It's an outfit for serious competitors as well as regular practitioners who want to invest in long-lasting quality.
